What is OpenClaw?

What's the difference between Server and Desktop mode?

Server mode runs headless with minimal resources (4GB RAM) - great for production use where you access AI through messaging apps. Desktop mode includes a full XFCE desktop with real browsers (8GB RAM) where the AI operates like a human - browsing sites, filling forms, clicking buttons. You can watch everything via VNC and some websites that block headless browsers work perfectly in Desktop mode.

Do I need technical knowledge?

Minimal. You'll receive connection details via email. SSH to your server, and follow the simple guide shown on login: add your API key, restart the gateway, connect your messaging channel. That's it. Everything else is pre-configured.

How do I connect my AI model?

You have two options: use an API key from Anthropic or OpenAI, or login directly with your existing Claude/ChatGPT account token. Either way, your credentials stay on your server - we never see them.

How do I access my AI after setup?

Primarily through messaging apps! SSH into your server, run a few commands to connect Telegram/WhatsApp/Discord, and then just message your bot like any contact. You can also access the web dashboard via SSH tunnel for advanced configuration.

Can the AI browse websites and run code?
